JIM “PAPPY” MOORE: Celebrating Juneteenth

By Jim “Pappy” Moore
Today we celebrate Juneteenth, and rightfully so. The Republican Party was created to end slavery. In 1863 Lincoln freed all slaves with his Emancipation Proclamation.
Word of it reached Galveston, Texas on June 19th, 1865. It began as a local day that freed slaves celebrated, and it spread in time to everywhere. It is a time to remember that slavery was a terrible, terrible thing, and freeing slaves was a good thing, long overdue.
Freeing slaves had been fought fiercely by Democrats, who fought Reconstruction, which included full citizenship for Blacks and seats in congress for Blacks. The first Black congressmen all held Republican seats. For close to a hundred years Blacks were loyal to the Republican party.
In the 1960s LBJ crafted programs designed to appeal to many blacks. The Civil Rights Act, which was supported by a higher % of Republicans in Congress than Democrats. The Voting Rights Act. A variety of welfare programs, and equality under the law.
Sixty years later Democrats have tried to keep Blacks on their Plantation while undercutting them with their devotion to foreigners and illegal immigrants. Black Republicans today are like Wesley Hunt, congressman. West Point graduate. War hero. Black Democrats are like Jasmine Crockett, nobodies who talk ghetto like they’re some kind of hip hop person.
Find a Black Conservative and you’ll find someone who is accomplished, intelligent, self sufficient and well respected.  Happy Juneteenth!
