ABC News Celebrates America 250 At The Alamo! 🇺🇸

On America’s 250th anniversary this Fourth of July, ABC News’ marathon “Disney Celebrates America” broadcast highlighted the Alamo’s proud role in American history.

Award-winning correspondent and host John Quinones, who calls San Antonio home, spotlighted the Shrine of Texas Liberty in a feature story. Watch it here!

The segment explores how the fight for freedom during the world-famous Battle of the Alamo brought together the blending of cultures we see today in San Antonio, in a vibrant contribution to the incredible story of America.

While at the Alamo, Quinones saw a cannonball unearthed by our archaeology team earlier this year, the day before the 190th anniversary of the Battle. And in a powerful moment highlighted during the national broadcast, the Alamo’s Senior Researcher and Historian Kolby Lanham traced Quinones’ family history in Texas to 1836, the pivotal year when Texas gained its independence.

The story aired during the “Hometowns & Heroes” portion of the 24-hour “Disney Celebrates America” broadcast alongside segments exploring the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the historic tall ships sailing through New York Harbor, and patriotic festivals across the nation.

Later this month, Quinones will be featured on the award-winning “Stories Bigger Than Texas: The Alamo Podcast” where he’ll reflect on spending this landmark day in America in the Alamo City.
