| Austin, TX – French Legation State Historic Site is bringing one of the world’s most popular sports to its lawn and inviting the community to join a series of free watch parties during the Round of 32 and Quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Beginning June 30, the French Legation will host select evening playoff matches on a 30-foot outdoor inflatable screen, creating a shared viewing experience that celebrates international culture and community connection in a unique historic setting. The special watch parties, held on June 30, July 1, and July 11, will combine the energy of international competition with a scenic historic space in the heart of Austin. Guests can spread out on the lawn of the French Legation site beneath the shade of the large trees or enjoy the breeze from the large outdoor fans. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Up to 250 visitors can be accommodated for each watch party on a first-come, first-served basis. The events are free; no tickets are required. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early for the best chance of entry. Screenings begin 30 minutes before kickoff. Water and light snacks will be available for purchase in the gift shop.
