| San Antonio, TX – From masa grinding to folklorico dance, Cornapalooza brings together food, music, and living history for an all-ages celebration at the historic Casa Navarro State Historic Site in San Antonio on April 26. Casa Navarro invites visitors to explore and experience the rich traditions of using corn in everyday life in early San Antonio during the popular annual event from 12-4 p.m. Sunday, April 26 at the site, 228 S. Laredo St. The Cornapalooza festival is a true celebration of the importance of corn to local cuisine and South Texas culture. A vibrant mix of corn-themed activities, live music, cultural performances, and hands-on demonstrations make the festival a lively family-friendly event. Guests can enjoy performances throughout the event by Ballet Folklorico Festival, San Antonio’s largest Mexican folk-dance company, alongside live music, craft vendors, and historical interpreters from sites across Texas. Interactive experiences will include children’s activities, games, and food vendors. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore traditional practices such as grinding corn into masa, crafting corn-husk dolls, and learning the art of jacal wall construction. Attendees can also participate in lotería games, where they can win prizes while discovering the history behind this beloved Mexican tradition. Bexar County Garage, located at the corner of South Flores and West Nueva streets, is offering free parking on a first come first served basis with validation at the event.
