Texas A&M Mays Business School MS Business students return to Lake Walk with the Integrated Business Experience

LAKE WALK

Bryan, TX – (October 8th, 2024) – Lake Walk and the Texas A&M McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship are partnering with the Integrated Business Experience to give student businesses a dedicated space at The Local to learn business by doing business and raise money for non-profits in the Brazos Valley.

“The Local will always be a place to uplift entrepreneurs and creators in our community,” said Tristan Estrada, Community Coordinator for Lake Walk. “Being able to watch these students, at the start of their journeys as future business leaders, receive mentorship from the artisan vendors and encouragement from our community is such an inspiration.”

The Integrated Business Experience began its partnership with Lake Walk in 2020 to provide a space for student-run businesses to interact directly with customers and learn from best-in-class hospitality leaders at The Local. Texas A&M University Mays Business School students enrolled in the MS Business program participate in the Integrated Business Experience led by the McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship to create a business and organize a service entity, enabling students to learn business by doing business.

“The collaboration between the Integrated Business Experience and Lake Walk creates a real-world platform for our students to refine their business acumen and leadership skills,” said Blake Petty, instructor for the Integrated Business Experience course in the Mays Business School. It’s more than just selling a product—it’s about understanding the responsibility of being an entrepreneur and positively impacting the local community,”

Student businesses from the Integrated Business Experience (IBE) will debut this fall at The Local on October 15thfrom 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with their grand finale at Holiday Night Bazaar on December 7th from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. For more information, please visit our webpage dedicated to IBE businesses at thelocalbcs.com/IBE or contact thelocal@lakewalktx.com.
