Cee Dee Lamb signs new contract

By Elwyn Henderson

Dallas Cowboys start Wide Receiver Cee Dee Lamb finally reached a contract agreement and signed a record breaking 4-year, $136 million dollar deal with $100 million guaranteed.  The contract also includes a $38 million dollar signing bonus.  That represents the biggest signing bonus ever given to a wide receiver.  The deal makes him the second highest paid non-quarterback in the NFL.

The Mirror participated in a conference call at 3 PM on August 26th with Head Coach Mike McCarthy where he discussed the team finally getting the deal done, and in time for Lamb to be ready to roll on September 8th when Dallas opens the season in Cleveland.

To begin the presser McCarthy was asked to give his thoughts and if there would be a ramp up for Lamb.

“I think number one, it was just great to get the contract in place, and obviously, have him.  I don’t think we have to have a ramp up mode, but we’re going to have a plan for him.  We do have to be smart with him and that’s our plan.”

McCarthy added, “I was excited.  You’re getting updated quite frequently on where things stand, so I was anticipating a sooner or later type situation today, but it was good to get it done.  I think we’re all relieved.”

So, the biggest and most pressing contract negotiation comes to a close, but the Cowboys still have to deal with Quarterback Dak Presott who is in the final year of his second contract and will get a huge payday, and with Micah Parsons who is in the final year of his contract.  Prescott’s will be the next most pressing, as he will become a free agent next year.  Parsons, on the other hand, can have the franchise tag placed on him next year.  There’s going to be a lot of discussion by the pundits and fans alike in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to the continuing saga!
