Mid-America League Announces Players of the Week for the Week Ending Sunday, July 21, 2024

LAWRENCE, KS- The Mid-America League is proud to announce their “Players of the Week” for the week ending Sunday, July 21, 2024.

 

The MAL “Hitter of the Week” for the second week in a row is Juan Murillo.  Murillo, an outfielder for the Piney Woods (TX) TimberHogs, leads the league with a Batting Average of .524 and an On-Base-Plus-Slugging percentage of 1.393.  Murillo collected 11 hits, scored 8 runs, knocked in 7 runs, and belted 2 homeruns.

 

Zakary Jordan, Piney Woods (TX) TimberHogs right-handed pitcher, was named the MAL “Pitcher of the Week.”  Jordan, a veteran player from Gilmer, TX, issued only 4 hits over 7.2 innings while striking out 10 opposing hitters and walking none.  Jordan notched his first win of the season on July 19 against the Texarkana Rhinos giving up just one earned run on four hits.
