  • Credit unions like CUTX have a different purpose and focus on creating positive change in communities
    • Personalized customer service with examples that include:
      • First-of-its-kind no-fee (even for non-members) ATM/ITM in Gilmer Town Square that provides the ability to interact with a virtual teller
      • Planned coffee shop for the Gilmer location that can serve as a community gathering spot and also allows CUTX team members to get to know area residents
      • Financial literacy training through speaking engagements and community partnerships at The City of Allen, Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin, North Tarrant Express, etc. 
    • Focus on making a difference in local communities/neighborhoods with examples that include:
      • Supported Big Brothers Giving Back, an organization in Gilmer dedicated to mentoring at-risk youth, providing rent for a communal building where the students attend after-school events and learn essential trade skills
      • Partnered with the Upshur County Shares – Gilmer Community Food Pantry, donating three new freezers and collecting canned goods and baby supplies at a community-wide event
      • Participated in the East Texas Yamboree’s livestock show, investing nearly $120,000 in Gilmer High School students’ college funds
      • Provided more than 800 volunteer hours and $1.4 million to 76 organizations across DFW in 2021:
        • Examples include: North Texas Food Bank, CACCC, DCAC, Allen Public Safety Fund, EXPOW, MLK Oration Scholarship Competition, Allen Community Outreach, Junior Achievement, Association of the United States Army, Education Foundations, Upshur County Food Bank, StreetSide Showers, etc.
