Laird Hospital equipment auction
KILGORE – Contents of the old Roy H. Laird Memorial Hospital are for sale to the public.
Available items are to be sold at auction and are listed at https://publicsurplus.com/sms/kilgore,tx.
Patricia White, project manager in the city’s public works department, is managing the auction. “Not everything is listed yet,” she emphasized Thursday. “We’re still adding stuff for sale, but we want locals who might be interested in this stuff to be aware of it.”
All items will be sold by lot number; those lots will often include multiple items. For example, lot 2936059 will convey 23 sinks with faucets. All lots will include a reserve price.
White said the auction will end “before Christmas” and all items will have to be removed during the week between Christmas and Dec. 30. “Asbestos abatement will begin in January and everything has to be out before then.”
Even light poles and exterior stone columns will be available, she noted. “One way or another, everything has to go.” Much of the kitchen equipment will be salvaged for re-use in concession stands at youth sports facilities and the city swimming pool.
The hospital building, with the exception of the emergency room annex, will be razed to make way for a new facility to house the nursing education program. For more information, contact White at patricia.white@cityofkilgore.com
