Ore City Man Acquitted of Murder by Upshur County Jury
Gilmer, TX – After four days of intensive court proceedings, an Upshur County jury delivered a swift verdict of Not Guilty in the case of Mr. Robert Travis, an Ore City resident who faced charges of murder. Mr. Travis, who acted in defense of his family and property, was acquitted following less than three hours of jury deliberation, underscoring the jury’s conviction in his innocence.
Represented by attorneys Mr. Edward Choy (Longview), Mr. Brian Keeney (San Antonio), and Mr. Blakely Mohr (Fort Worth), Mr. Travis was able to present a defense rooted in the fundamental rights granted by the U.S. Constitution and Texas law. In a powerful closing argument, lead defense attorney Mr. Choy emphasized the importance of the Second Amendment, reminding the jury that “as Texans, we have the right to protect ourselves, our families, and our property.” Mr. Choy argued that Mr. Travis acted within his legal rights when he defended his family from the violent actions of another.
“This verdict is a testament to the fundamental values we hold dear,” said Mr. Choy. “Mr. Travis exercised his right to self-defense, and we are grateful the jury recognized this as a justifiable and lawful response. Today’s decision reaffirms our collective commitment to the principles of justice, individual liberty, and the protection of life and property.”
The jury’s Not Guilty verdict brings a close to a case that has weighed heavily on Mr. Travis and his family. With his name cleared, Mr. Travis looks forward to moving on from this ordeal, grateful for the support he has received throughout this process.

I heard the guy that was shot was walking away from Travis and Travis shot him 8 times in the back. The guy that was shot ran around the other side which then Travis and another guy ran around to him and finished him off. How is he innocent after he admitted that he did it over 20 times. One of the jury members new Travis and was relatives with the judge. How is this not a thing? Also the DA went and ate with Travis and the other guy spotted at the cracker barrel. Two different DA’s presided over the case and the judge wouldn’t allow the evidence to be permitted from the first judge. A lot more to this than meets the eye. I guess it pays to have relatives in the DA’s office on some cases. Seemed like to me it should of been moved to a different county. But what do I know.
Bob. Everything you just said is inaccurate. Maybe don’t speak on things you don’t know about.
As he said, I heard .
