When I was in college in 1987, I had heard of then-Senator Joe Biden, who was definitely accused of plagiarizing a long speech by the British politician Neil Kinnock. Plus, reports came to light that Biden had plagiarized during his law school days. He was forced to withdraw from the 1988 presidential race in disgrace.
Joe Biden has termed himself a “devout Catholic”. I feel anyone who is Catholic retains their views in their heart without labels. I think most American Catholics these days are “cafeteria Catholics” (accepting some parts of dogma, while overlooking others). I am thankful that I’d consider many of my relatives (and myself included) just “average Catholics”, without putting on airs. Our faith is in our hearts. You can be a faithful, practicing Catholic and be modest, too. We are all sinners, being ‘average’ is no sin.
By contrast, Joe Biden goes further out on a thin, shaky limb. He purports specialness while his son Hunter fathered an illegitimate daughter whom Hunter has only seen on ‘Zoom’ and Joe refuses to allow the baby in home photos or to even be given the Biden surname as the mother requested. What kind of spiteful grandfather!!
At first, I thought it was just Joe’s dementia; but obviously Joe still has a vindictive streak to deny his own grandchild proven by DNA.
Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, Kansas, said: “Obviously, the president doesn’t believe what we believe about the sacredness of human life… “. Just this year, Bishop Paprocki said Biden “is making a mockery of our Catholic faith”. Bishop Gruss of Saginaw, Michigan called Biden “a stupid Catholic who is not living the life Jesus wants for him”.
The White House is intended to be the Official Office and Residence of the President and First Lady and young children (if any). I have no problem that Presidents Lincoln, Kennedy, and Carter had minor kids who lived there. Amy Carter was age 9 when she moved-in. However, the White House isn’t set-up to be a drug-rehab hotel for a 54-year-old-man in Hunter Biden. Plus, Hunter is a convicted felon. To be fair, I frown on all felonies.
Biden has long used his childhood stutter as an excuse for things. I realize that he is now 81 years old and in cognitive-decline. Yet, he seems to chronically drop “the F-word” and other obscenities (as do other politicians) without a hint of a stutter. I am Catholic and I try to NEVER say that word. I think most priests and bishops would chastise and reprimand a Catholic for constantly using such vulgar and ungodly utterances. The protestant Rev. Franklin Graham has admonished other politicians, too, for similar things.
Joe has been caught on tape sneaking up behind strange women and little girls; and kissing their necks or fondling them. Any other man would be under a law-enforcement predator watch-list.
Joe Biden, when a widower, chased a married woman (a-model; sound-familiar?) and the woman’s husband Bill Stevenson was naturally upset. According to official reports, Jill Biden has not declared if she has formally converted to Catholicism. “Devout Catholics” get an annulment or a “dispensation” from their bishop. In any case, devout Catholics would be proud to proclaim their status, if legit.
Joe Biden places a high bar for himself by saying he is “devout”. Devout, by definition, means being totally committed to a Cause or belief. With so many Catholic Bishops saying otherwise, it gives any person reason to wonder. Even Cardinal Wilton Gregory, Archbishop of Washington, D.C., noted that Biden does significant “contradictory” things that are upsetting to the Church and to the faithful.
I don’t fault Joe Biden for having a rosary that his late son gave him. I have a rosary that my mom’s late cousin, Sister Philomena Bahr, who lived to age 97 who died recently, who was a Catholic Nun for over 75 years gave me. Even the most basic Catholics (and even some protestants, too) know that the ‘Sign of the Cross’ is made by those when entering a Church, when Mass starts and ends, after the Eucharist, and other times when the Trinity is mentioned, or the when the sprinkling of holy water is done. It is also made when hearing the gong (siren) of an ambulance. It is also made before meals (saying Grace). Eastern Orthodox Churches do it more often, but they touch the inverse shoulder (right shoulder, then left shoulder), after touching the forehead and lower chest/stomach.
The gesture is done as an act of reverence and piety. It is NOT to be done in a disrespectful or mocking manner. Nor, is it to be done as an act of defiance. Many Catholic Bishops and laity criticized Joe Biden for ‘signing himself’ at a rally in which measures that restrict abortion were made. José Ignacio Munilla, the bishop of Orihuela-Alicante in Spain, said that by Biden making the sign of the cross in support of abortion constitutes a “sacrilegious” gesture and “the desecration of the sign of the cross.”
All of the above, demonstrates that clergy and laity worldwide have condemned Biden on many levels. Again, everyone is a sinner, but Biden has a multitude of defects.
The word ‘purgatory’ does not appear in The Holy Bible. It was an evolving idea from the 7th Century to 13th Century (usually by Catholic Monks who were canon lawyers). They would see friends whom seemed destined for Hell; but in their sentimental melancholy mood— they devised sort of an “intermediary place” where the sinful could temporarily reside for spiritual cleansing. I know, I have seen little old ladies at Mass praying for the souls in purgatory, in hopes that they would be released from their chains in short order. I don’t believe in purgatory. But, if (if) purgatory exists: With Biden’s long-term plagiarizing, philandering (possible fornication in the eyes of the Church), influence peddling, persistent public profanity, enabling son Hunter’s habit of using prostitution, combined with shunning his own grandchild, and mocking the Catholic Church by making the sign of the cross at a venue where devout believers wouldn’t dare do it.
During his first debate this year, Biden blurted out: “We finally beat Medicare”. Many thought that was his dementia, but it could have been a Freudian-slip. He was ousted by a quiet coup which he visibly protested. Yet, after he finally realized he was “out”, he had no choice to go with the flow and live on the beach for a few days.
Is Biden a “devout Catholic?” Based on the above: “No”. Is he a Catholic, he is by baptism. Biden knows his actions have been reprehensible. He only goes to a handful of Catholic parishes where he has found ‘a friendly priest’ to give him communion. Many priests openly refuse him communion. I am NOT supportive of excluding him communion , nor his Excommunication. If the latter happened, that would only lead to estrangement. The Catholic Church calls it a “medicinal” measure, but with Biden, it would simply drive him away. I have seen family-feuds between fathers-and-daughters who were estranged. It never ends well.
Biden defies basic decency. Biden’s best bet is to repent and focus on his own soul. Admittedly, he won’t listen to others. He may be at a point in his life when he can’t.
To me, America has STILL only had only ONE true Roman Catholic President and that was John F. Kennedy. Despite JFK’s human flaws, he was reverent to Catholics/Protestants/Jews and others and treated people with respect.
By contrast, Biden has called the Israeli prime minister a “f—-ing liar”. Whatever happened to Build Back Better? What type of morality does Biden supposedly “forgiving student debt” have ? None. It doesn’t forgive debt, it shoves it onto someone else. That is akin to stealing. The Eighth Commandment states: “Thou Shalt Not Steal”.
Biden knows the Catholic ritualistic moves. He recites words that he doesn’t live by. He does mocking gestures. By his impiety, that almost qualifies him for a one-way ticket to a sanitarium before he heads to purgatory. If they can’t cure him, he may have to visit the little red man with a tail.
James, I’m not Catholic and don’t know all the Catholic rituals by any means but I agree with you Biden is not qualified to be a devout Catholic and you know Jesus will forgive you for your sins if you’re a true believer and only between the two of them will they know the truth! Good right up though and I agree with you
