The colorful hand-drawn images of the late artist Gary Bachers were a staple at art festivals around the country and none appreciated them more than the collectors at Texas shows, including Edom Art Festival and Cottonwood Art Festival that take place each October. Bachers passed away in August 2023 but attendees at the Edom and Richardson festivals this year will be happy to find his artwork once again among the sea of artists’ tents. Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards

Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards Festival takes place on October 3-5 at Memorial City Hall Performance Center (MCH) in Marshall. The three-day event brings leading celebrity artists from around the world to perform and compete. Each evening, an entirely new lineup of singers, duos, and full bands take the stage in hopes of winning a Texas Sounds International CMA award. There are artists from 14 different nations and four continents, with five to seven different acts each night. READ MORE

Happy Birthday Johnny Mathis

On September 30, 1935, Johnny Mathis was born in Gilmer, Texas. He would go on to be one of the most beloved pop singers in American music history. Gilmer pays tribute to this native son at the Historic Upshur Museum. He’s still performing and celebrates his 89th birthday this week in Stamford, CT. READ MORE
