Pine Tree High School Welding Program Makes History with First All-Girls Competitive Welding Team
LONGVIEW, TEXAS — September 2026 — Pine Tree High School is proud to announce a historic milestone for its welding program with the formation of the school’s first all-girls competitive welding team.
During the 2026–2027 school year, the team will represent Pine Tree High School while competing in the Texas High School Welding Series, where students have the opportunity to demonstrate their welding skills in competition alongside high school welding students from across Texas.
The formation of the all-girls team marks an exciting step forward for the Pine Tree Welding Program and reflects the growing opportunities available to young women interested in welding, skilled trades, and technical careers.
Competition provides students with an opportunity to take the skills they develop in the classroom and welding shop and apply them in a challenging environment. In addition to strengthening their technical abilities, students develop valuable qualities such as teamwork, confidence, attention to detail, time management, work ethic, and the ability to perform under pressure.
The students who make up Pine Tree’s first all-girls welding team will have the unique opportunity to compete while also setting an example for future students who may be interested in pursuing welding and other skilled trades.
The team will compete as part of the larger Pine Tree High School Welding Team throughout the 2026–2027 season, representing Pine Tree ISD and the Longview community at competitions across Texas.

About Pine Tree High School Welding
The Pine Tree High School Welding Program provides students with hands-on opportunities to develop welding and fabrication skills while preparing them for continued education, industry certifications, and careers in the skilled trades. Through classroom instruction, shop experience, and competitive welding, students have opportunities to develop both technical abilities and the professional skills needed for success after high school.
