KAUFMAN COUNTY FATAL CRASH

Kaufman County – On August 28, 2026, at approximately 4:01 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) Highway Patrol (HP) responded to a single vehicle crash on US-80 near Sierra Parkway.

A preliminary investigation indicates a Chevrolet Camaro was traveling eastbound on US-80. The driver failed to maintain a single lane, overcorrected, and lost control of the vehicle. The Camaro went off the road in a side skid and struck a guardrail.

The driver of the Camaro, Jorge Antonio Garduno Lopez, a 30-year-old from Terrell, TX, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
