Smith County Fatal Crash

Tyler, Texas – On 8/24/2026 at approximately 6:20 A.M., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to an auto-pedestrian crash that occurred on Farm to Market Road 14 near County Road 328.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a Dodge pickup driven by Christopher Wilson, 32, of Tyler, Texas, was traveling northbound on Farm to Market Road 14. At the same time, a pedestrian, Jorge Luis Garcia-Jimenez, 42, of Tyler, Texas, was walking southbound in the center turn lane of Farm to Market Road 14. The pickup truck attempted to pass a vehicle that was making a right turn, ahead of it. The pickup truck entered the center turn lane and struck the pedestrian.
