Fatal Crash – Smith County, Interstate 20 – 7/28/2026
Lindale, Texas – On 7/28/2026 at approximately 3:30 P.M., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a three-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 20 at the 552 mile marker.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a truck tractor-trailer, a passenger car, and another truck tractor-trailer were all traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 in the right lane near the 552 mile marker. A truck tractor-trailer driven by Lawrence Foster, of Kansas City, Kansas was slowing down due to road work crews ahead. A passenger vehicle driven by Harold Gray, of Lindale, was also slowing down behind the truck tractor-trailer. A second truck tractor-trailer driven by Sithail Thav, of Porterville, California, failed to control his speed and collided into the back of the passenger car. The force of the collision pushed the passenger car into the trailer of the truck tractor-trailer ahead of it.
Harold Gray was pronounced deceased on scene. The passenger, Paula Gray, of Lindale, was transported to a local hospital, where she later died of her injuries. Neither of the truck tractor-trailer drivers reported injuries in the crash.
This investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available.
