Gilmer High Football Star Ismaël Camara Partners with French-American Organizations for Global Cultural and Economic Alliance

GILMER, Texas — November 5, 2026 — Ismaël Camara, the standout French-born Gilmer  High School football star and one of the highest-ranked international recruits in gridiron  history, has officially announced a historic global alliance to promote cultural and  economic growth between his home State of Texas and the French-speaking world.  Partnering with two premier French non-profit organizations in the United States— the Alliance Française d’Austin and the French American Chamber of Commerce — Camara is embarking on a unique cooperative journey, aimed at elevating French culture  and driving international commerce.

This groundbreaking relationship will foster cultural exchange, linguistic education, and  economic growth between the State of Texas and the Francophone world. By creating a  unique framework of support for international student-athletes competing in Texas, this

endeavor aims to establish a living network of relationships for international athletes who  compete, develop, grow, and learn in the State of Texas for generations to come.

A Historic Cultural and Athletic Bridge 

Affectionately known as “The French Freak,” the 6-foot-6, 340-pound Camara has taken  American high school football by storm since arriving from Le Mans, France. Currently a  consensus 5-Star recruit, Camara has solidified his status as an elite prospect:

• National Ranking: Rated as high as No. 13 in the nation for the class of 2027.
• All-American Honors: Recognized nationally as a U.S. Army All-American and  a Polynesian Bowl High School All-Star, USA Today 1st Team All-American.
• College Commitment: Highly sought after with more than 50 Division I offers,  Camara officially committed to play football for The University of Texas  Longhorns on July 4, 2026.

Ismaël Camara 

Ismaël Camara is a five-star, high school All-American offensive tackle for the Gilmer High  School Buckeyes in Gilmer, Texas. Originally from Le Mans, France, Camara transitioned to  American football as a teenager and quickly became one of the top high school football  recruits in the United States for the 2027 cycle. Known for his rare combination of size,  strength, agility, and a 7-foot-1 wingspan, he is currently committed to the Texas Longhorns  Recruiting Class of 2027 to continue his academic and athletic career.
