There are good things happening all over the game of football. The National Football Foundation has asked individuals to share an example of something they see happening within our sport that is good for the game. Here is one example of what makes the sport so meaningful!

NFF Updates gathers news from events happening within the National Football Foundation and celebrates individuals who have been honored by the organization.
More than 350 former NFF Campbell Trophy nominees and guests met on the campus of Stanford University last weekend for the eighth annual Campbell Trophy Summit, bringing together former players with accomplished CEOs, entrepreneurs and mentors to develop the next generation of leaders.

Eric Weddle, a 2026 NFF College Football Hall of Fame electee, has been named the 2026 inductee to Utah’s Ring of Honor and will be honored at the Utes’ home game vs. Arkansas on Sept. 12.

  • Ralph Aguilera, who played collegiately at Miami (FL) before joining the US Army as a Military Police Officer, passed away July 22. He was 93.
  • Roy Cawley, who played collegiately at Utah and later earned an MBA from UCLA, passed away July 7. He was 87.
  • Jackie Cline, who played collegiately at Alabama under head coaches Paul “Bear” Bryant and Don Shula, passed away July 24. He was 66.
  • Lena Corrigan, the wife of Gene Corrigan and mother of Boo Corrigan, passed away July 20. She was 96. Corrigan’s husband, Gene, was on the Honors Court of the NFF for 33 years and chairman for 24 years, from 1992-2015. Corrigan’s son, Boo, currently serves as the Director of Athletics at NC State.
  • Jordan Devey, who played collegiately at Memphis from 2011-12 and later with the San Francisco 49ers, has passed away. He was 38.
  • Richard Fowler, who played collegiately at Iowa and also ran track for the Hawkeyes, passed away July 20. He was 93.
  • Dick Himes, who played collegiately at Ohio State and spent 10 years with the Green Bay Packers, passed away July 5. He was 80.
  • Tom Luce, a respected Texas attorney, former Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education under President George W. Bush, and the father of Ken Luce, who is the founding partner at LDWW, has passed away. He was 86.
  • Michael Pry, who played collegiately at UNLV before spending time in the NFL with both Washington and St. Louis, passed away July 7. He was 73.
  • Floyd Sloan, who played collegiately at Missouri and earned First-Team All-Conference honors for the 1960 Orange Bowl team, passed away July 17. He was 88.
  • Dale Steele, the first head coach of the modern era of Campbell football beginning in 2006, passed away July 19. He was 70.
  • Barry Zindel, who played collegiately at Michigan State and won a national championship with the Spartans, passed away in May. He was 87.

Ki-Jana Carter — RB, Penn State (1992-94)
Carter rushed for 2,829 yards during his Penn State career, earning All-America honors and a runner-up finish in Heisman Trophy voting during the 1994 season in which he rushed for 1,539 yards and 23 touchdowns.
