Safety features scheduled to be added along highways in Cass, Upshur counties
Work scheduled to take about 11 months |
ATLANTA – Safety features are scheduled for roadways in Cass and Upshur counties, according to plans awarded in April by the Texas Department of Transportation.
“This project includes over 11 miles of roadway in these two counties. The safety features to be added on driveway culverts are designed to reduce the severity of traffic crashes when vehicles leave the roadway,” said TxDOT Mount Pleasant Area Engineer Wendy Starkes. New metal beam guard fence, bridge rail and signage will also be included.
Work is scheduled to take place on the following sections of roadway:
· State Highway (SH) 11, from U.S. Highway 59 to Farm to Market road (FM) 130, in Cass County
· FM 2685, from SH 155 to FM 1404 in Upshur County
Skyline Bridge LLC was awarded the contract with a bid of $1,793,826. Work is expected to begin in June and take about 11 months to complete, weather permitting. The estimated completion date is subject to change due to weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances.
