Fanthorp Inn Brings 19th-Century Fashion and Travel to Life
Anderson, TX – Petticoats and parasols, as well as tailcoats and top hats, will be back in style on Saturday, May 9 as Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site invites visitors to experience 19th-century fashion and life at its Fanthorp Fashion event.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., staff and volunteers of Fanthorp Inn will be dressed in their finest attire, demonstrating how fashion changed over the period the inn was operational from 1834-1868.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., hop aboard the inn’s replica stagecoach for a historic ride through downtown Anderson, driven by horses, to learn about travel in early Texas

About Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site
Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site is one of 42 historic sites managed by the Texas Historical Commission. Built by English immigrant Henry Fanthorp, Fanthorp Inn served as a well-known stopping place for travelers and the community in the 19th century. After building the house in 1834, Fanthorp was appointed as postmaster by the provisional Texas government in 1835, and he offered other goods and services to his frequent visitors.
