Letter to the Editor from the Gilmer Postmaster

March 18, 2026

Dear Editor,

In 2026, one of the Postal Service’s biggest priorities is hiring — because service starts with  people. I want residents in Gilmer to know we offer a strong career path for people who want  steady work, professional growth, and solid benefits.

As your postmaster in Gilmer, I want to let you know that we’re looking for applicants who take  pride in public service: delivering for neighbors, supporting local businesses, and doing the job  safely and reliably. There are opportunities across many skill sets — from delivery and retail to  maintenance and logistics support.

For those considering a change, the best way to learn what fits is to explore openings and  requirements at usps.com. If you’re dependable, safety-minded, and ready to work as part of a  team, I encourage you to take a look.

A strong local Post Office depends on local talent. We’d be proud to have more of our neighbors  join the team.

Robert Parker

Postmaster, Gilmer Post Office
