Let’s work together to keep our region safe and warm
As extremely cold temperatures continue across much of Texas, CenterPoint Energy is expecting to experience significantly higher natural gas demand across our system especially after 6 p.m. Our teams are actively monitoring conditions and responding around the clock to any issues. To prevent customers from experiencing impacts such as reduced gas pressure or interruptions in service, we encourage you to take small steps to help conserve natural gas to support system reliability and maintain reliable service for everyone.
Taking action now can also help manage your energy use and may help lower your monthly bill. These simple tips can be implemented immediately to reduce natural gas use where possible:
Lower your thermostat a few degrees, especially overnight or when away from home
Reduce hot water use and lower your water heater temperature setting by 10 degrees
Close curtains and blinds to help retain heat
Seal drafts around doors and windows
Limit use of non-essential gas appliances, such as clothes dryers and pool heaters
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through these challenging conditions. Your efforts to conserve natural gas help support your neighbors and the broader community during this period of extreme cold in our region.
