Big Sandy Rotary Club Hosting Electronics Recycling Drive to Support Local High School Scholarships
BIG SANDY — Community members looking to declutter their homes and responsibly dispose of old tech have an upcoming opportunity to do so while supporting local students. The Big Sandy Rotary Club is sponsoring an Electronics Recycling event to collect unwanted electronic devices and raise funds for high school education.
The collection drive accepts a wide variety of electronic items and household equipment, including:
Computers & Accessories: Desktop computers, laptops, computer servers, LCD monitors, flat-screen TVs, keyboards, mice, headphones, and all general computer components.
Audio & Video Gear: Car and home audio equipment, speakers, satellite/cable boxes, VCRs, DVD/VHS players and recorders, camcorders, multimedia projectors, and portable CD/DVD players.
Office Equipment & Electronics: Printers, scanners, fax machines, copy machines, shredders, routers, typewriters, word processors, calculators, and inkjet cartridges.
Personal Devices & Media: Cell phones, GPS devices, MP3 players, cameras, digital cameras, video games, PDAs, audiobooks, music CDs, and DVDs/VHS movies.
Household Appliances: Microwave ovens.
In addition to dropping off recyclable electronics, community members dropping off items are encouraged to consider making a financial donation to the club.
Funds raised during the event directly support educational initiatives in the region, including Big Sandy High School Scholarships and funding for students attending the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program from Big Sandy, Winona and Hawkins High Schools.
The collection initiative is encouraged by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). For questions or additional details regarding accepted items, residents can contact Frank Bence by call or text at (951) 966-0023.
