Help Is Still Available: SWEPCO Encourages Customers to Explore Assistance Options Before Oct. 31
SHREVEPORT, LA (Oct. 1, 2026) – Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) customers who may need additional flexibility managing their electric bills still have time to access expanded bill assistance and temporary residential customer relief measures now through the end of October.
The temporary measures are aimed at helping customers manage higher electric bills following an extended period of extreme summer heat across Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. With just one month remaining, customers should contact the company now to determine what assistance may be available.
Behind every account is a customer story. Recently, one Arkansas customer shared how a single call to SWEPCO connected him with assistance resources during a difficult season in his life.
“You have blessed me,” he shared.
While every situation is different, his experience highlights a simple but important message: customers who need help should reach out. Since announcing these temporary customer relief measures thousands of customers have already benefited.
“The most important message for customers is simple: don’t wait. We’re here to help, ” said Paul Pratt, vice president of Customer Experience and New Business Development. “Whether it’s a payment arrangement, budget billing or our temporary assistance measures, our teams are ready to help customers explore every available solution to help.”
Through Oct. 31, SWEPCO is:
- Pausing required deposits for existing residential customer accounts
- Waiving late payment fees for residential customers
- Expanding access to the Average Monthly Payment (AMP) program, allowing more customers to qualify for predictable monthly payments throughout the year
“We want customers to know help is available, but time is limited,” Pratt said. “If you’re concerned about paying your bill, don’t wait until your account becomes past due. Reach out now so we can discuss options that may help keep your account current and your service connected.”
Customers who may need assistance should contact SWEPCO as soon as possible at 888-216-2523 to discuss available payment and assistance options.
In addition to these temporary measures, customers may qualify for support through federally funded energy assistance programs, Neighbor-to-Neighbor assistance grants, payment arrangements and other available resources. For customers looking beyond immediate assistance, SWEPCO also offers rebates, energy-saving programs and personalized tools to help manage energy use throughout the year.
