SFA Gardens lecture to feature ornamental plant specialist
SFA Gardens’ monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series will feature a presentation by Dr. Ping Yu, University of Georgia Assistant Professor of Horticulture and ornamental extension specialist, at 7 p.m. October 8th in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center. She will present, “Blooms and Beyond, a new perspective for your plants.”
Dr. Ping Yu’s extension and applied research programs focus on sustainable plant production and management, improving ornamental crop production efficiency, and Integrated Pest Management in nurseries and greenhouse productions. She works closely with the Georgia Green Industry Association (GGIA) to provide information from her research to county agents and growers. Her goal is to provide stakeholders with science-based solutions to address real-world issues and problems through high-quality extension programs. Dr. Yu teaches a Nursery Management course at University of Georgia each fall and hosts a horticulture podcast “Blooms and Beyond,” to spread plant power to a larger audience.
The Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series is held on the second Thursday of each month and includes a plant raffle after the program. The lecture is free and open to the public; however, donations to the lecture series fund are always appreciated.
