Winnsboro Live! Brings a Free Concert  with the Darrin Morris Band— and the Grand Opening of the Winnsboro Social District — to the Bowery on September 19

WINNSBORO, Texas — Winnsboro Live! returns Saturday, September 19, with a free outdoor concert on the Bowery headlined by the Darrin Morris Band. And in a first for downtown Winnsboro, before the music starts, the City will raise a toast on the Bowery to celebrate the grand opening of the new Winnsboro Social District.
The concert is free and open to everyone, with music starting at 7 p.m. on the Bowery, downtown Winnsboro’s outdoor stage along Market Street. Residents and visitors are invited to bring a lawn chair and settle in for the evening and make a night of it downtown. Local restaurants and shops along the Bowery will be open for dinner, drinks, and a place to browse before and during the show. Coolers and outside alcohol are  prohibited.
The evening also marks the debut of the Winnsboro Social District, which the Winnsboro City Council approved on September 8. Within the boundaries of the district, adults 21 and older can buy a drink from a participating downtown business and enjoy it while they stroll the Bowery on Market Street, as long as it is in an official Winnsboro Social District cup and stay within the marked district. This is a new way to spend an evening downtown, designed to bring people together on the Bowery and support the local shops, restaurants, and businesses that make Winnsboro unique.
City Administrator Makenzie Lyons said this concert will be a fitting beginning to the new social district in Winnsboro.  “We are excited to welcome the Darrin Morris Band to Winnsboro this weekend and to celebrate the grand opening of our new Social District,” Lyons said. “I’m excited to see the opportunities the district may create for our downtown businesses, events and visitors, and I can’t think of a better way to kick it off than with live music on The Bowery.”
The City invites residents and visitors to bring a chair, raise a glass to a new chapter downtown, support the local businesses that make it hum, and enjoy a free night of music under the stars. For details, visit  www.winnsboroedc.com/events and follow the City of Winnsboro on Facebook.
