CHRISTUS Health Mount Pleasant earns national recognition for cardiovascular and stroke care

(MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas) – CHRISTUS Health Mount Pleasant has earned the American Heart Association’s Commitment to Quality Award for the second consecutive year, recognizing the hospital’s dedication to delivering evidence-based, high-quality cardiovascular and stroke care.
The award recognizes hospitals that achieve excellence across multiple Get With The Guidelines clinical programs through a systemwide commitment to quality improvement and patient outcomes. CHRISTUS Health Mount Pleasant was recognized for excellence in its coronary heart disease, heart failure, resuscitation and stroke programs, demonstrating consistent adherence to nationally recognized standards of care.
Fewer than 20 hospitals in Texas received the Commitment to Quality Award this year, placing CHRISTUS Health Mount Pleasant among an elite group of organizations recognized for comprehensive cardiovascular care.
“For patients in a rural community, access to high-quality care close to home can make all the difference,” said Dr. Stephen Sigal, interventional cardiologist at CHRISTUS Health Mount Pleasant. “Receiving this award for a second consecutive year reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses and clinical teams to ensure patients don’t have to leave their community to receive nationally recognized care.”
The recognition highlights the hospital’s ongoing investment in integrated quality improvement initiatives, including the use of real-time clinical data, evidence-based treatment protocols and multidisciplinary collaboration to improve outcomes for patients experiencing heart attacks, heart failure, stroke and other cardiovascular emergencies.
“Every minute matters when someone experiences an emergency,” said Dr. Saud Khan, neurologist at CHRISTUS Health Mount Pleasant. “In rural East Texas, having immediate access to advanced care is critical. This recognition reinforces our commitment to providing timely, reliable, lifesaving care while continuing to raise the standard of cardiovascular and neurological medicine for the communities we serve.”
The American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines program helps hospitals apply the latest scientific research and evidence-based guidelines to improve patient care and outcomes across multiple specialties. Hospitals earning the Commitment to Quality Award demonstrate excellence across several clinical service lines through sustained quality improvement efforts.
