Buckeyes travel to Lindale Friday evening for scrimmages against the Eagles
Tonight’s scrimmage action between the Gilmer Buckeyes** and the Lindale Eagles at Eagle Stadium in Lindale gives both East Texas powerhouse programs their first live-action dress rehearsal of the 2026 preseason.
Schedule & Stadium Info
Location: Eagle Stadium (Lindale, TX)
Freshmen / JV Scrimmages: Starting around 5:00 PM
Varsity Scrimmage: Scheduled to follow, starting around 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
What to Expect On the Field
1. Controlled Reps First: Expect standard controlled scrimmage formats initially, where each team’s offense gets a set number of plays (e.g., 10 to 12 plays per series) from specific ball spots regardless of downs, giving coaches a clean look at line play and position battles.
2. Game Situations & Live Quarter:** Scrimmages typically transition into situational work—such as goal-line packages and red-zone execution—before concluding with timed live quarters to test game-speed conditioning and special teams readiness.
3. Evaluating New Starters: For Gilmer, this is a prime opportunity to test depth in the secondary and hone timing in the passing game under game-like pressure. For Lindale, testing physical front-seven play against Gilmer’s fast-paced offense will be a core focus.
