BBB to Host 5th Annual Battle of the Businesses Cornhole Tournament at Black Hawk Creek Grill

TYLER, TX – August 7,  2026 – Better Business Bureau East Texas (BBB) is excited to announce the return of one of its most anticipated networking events of the year – the 5th Annual Battle of the Businesses Cornhole Tournament. The event will take place on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Black Hawk Creek Grill in Whitehouse, with lunch beginning at 11:00 a.m. and tournament play running from 12:00 p.m. until approximately 3:00 p.m.

Businesses from across East Texas are invited to gather for an afternoon of friendly competition, networking, and community fun. Whether you’re a seasoned cornhole player or simply looking for a unique team-building opportunity, the Battle of the Businesses offers an enjoyable way to connect with fellow business professionals while supporting the mission of BBB.

The tournament has continued to grow each year, with 40 teams competing in last year’s fourth annual event. Organizers expect another full field this year, making early registration highly recommended.

“Our Battle of the Businesses tournament has become much more than a cornhole competition,” said Mechele Agbayani Mills, President and CEO of BBB East Texas. “It’s an opportunity for businesses to build relationships, strengthen partnerships, and enjoy some friendly rivalry outside the office. The energy and camaraderie make this one of our favorite events of the year.”

Teams will compete in a double-elimination style tournament for bragging rights, trophies, and prizes. Of course, no Battle of the Businesses would be complete without plenty of spirited competition and good-natured smack talk, which organizers wholeheartedly encourage.

The Battle of the Businesses reflects BBB’s ongoing mission of bringing together trustworthy businesses while promoting relationships that strengthen the local economy. Beyond the competition, the event serves as a reminder that collaboration and community are essential ingredients for business success.

Businesses interested in participating are encouraged to register early, as the tournament has reached capacity in previous years. Gather your coworkers, clients, or business partners, bring your competitive spirit, and prepare for an afternoon filled with great food, great company, and memorable competition.

BBB extends its sincere appreciation to the businesses whose generous support helps make this annual event possible. Sponsors for the 2026 tournament include Republic Services, Delek Refinery, Thrivent Compass Financial, Wright Way Services, Texas Crystal Blue Pools, Soules Foods, B&L Cabinets, Income Solutions Wealth Management, Brookshire Grocery Company, and the Rose City Cornhole League. Their continued commitment to supporting the East Texas business community plays a vital role in the tournament’s success.
