UT Health East Texas Regional Trauma System, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Offer Free Child Passenger Safety Inspections

Frankston, Texas (July 28, 2026) — UT Health East Texas Regional Trauma System and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service are teaming up to host free booster seat inspections from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. The event will be held at UT Health East Texas Physicians in Frankston, 580 N. Frankston Highway — no registration or appointment required.

 

“This free child passenger safety check helps ensure our youngest passengers are secure and protected,” said Brittany Ray, UT Health East Texas Trauma Services Education and Injury Prevention Specialist “Whether you’re a new parent, expecting, or simply want peace of mind, we invite you to stop by and take advantage of this service.”

 

Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on site to check:

• Proper installation and positioning
• Correct seat type and size
• Appropriate harnessing
• Direction and placement of the seat
• Expiration dates and seat condition

A limited number of replacement booster seats will be available for those in need.

 

Ray encouraged parents and caregivers with child passengers shorter than 4’9” to stop by to ensure they are riding safely and in compliance with state laws.

 

“Certified technicians will be available to educate families on the right seat for their child, how to secure it correctly and when to replace it,” she said. “We also provide guidance and information for future seat checks and resources will also be available so safety stays a priority as children grow.”
