“Prairie Fire Hair, a Central Texas wig company dedicated to helping women experiencing hair loss regain confidence and feel like themselves again, is proud to announce its grand opening celebration on July 10-11, 2026, at its new studio located at 2108 Hunter Road, Suite 106, in San Marcos.
Founded by Texas State University professor Kelly Engram, whose own experience with alopecia inspired the business, Prairie Fire Hair was created to help women experiencing hair loss find confidence through personalized wig solutions, education, and compassionate support.
Prairie Fire Hair offers carefully curated human hair and high-quality synthetic wigs, educational resources, and complimentary one-on-one consultations. Clients also have access to personalized wig customization services, including color refinement, fit adjustments, and styling recommendations, supported by an in-house cosmetologist with more than 30 years of professional experience.
“”Hair loss can affect far more than how you look. It can impact confidence, identity, and quality of life,”” said Engram. “”I created Prairie Fire Hair to be the kind of resource I wish existed when I first began my own journey. Every woman deserves access to quality wigs, honest education, and a supportive community.””
The event begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, July 10, at 10 a.m., followed by an open house from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors will have an opportunity to tour the studio, learn about wig options and services, meet the founder, and enter prize drawings for premium hair care packages.
On Saturday, July 11, Prairie Fire Hair will host complimentary Wig 101 Workshops designed for both new and experienced wig wearers. Topics will include selecting the right wig, proper fit, styling basics, care and maintenance, and confidence-building tips for everyday wear. Registration opens June 20. Attendance is free, but advance registration is required.
Looking ahead, Engram plans to expand Prairie Fire Hair’s educational mission through ongoing workshops, support groups, and community events for women navigating hair loss. She is also developing a nonprofit initiative to providec wigs and hair-loss resources to women and children who might not otherwise have access to them.
“”My goal has always been bigger than helping women find the right wig,”” said Engram. “”I want Prairie Fire Hair to become a place where women can find education, encouragement, community, and hope throughout their hair-loss journey.””
