CHRISTUS Health names new president for Mount Pleasant hospital

(MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas) – CHRISTUS Health announced today that Kurt DeVaney has been named president of CHRISTUS Health Mount Pleasant, bringing a proven track record of operational excellence, strategic growth and community engagement to the ministry.

“Kurt is an exceptional leader who understands that outstanding healthcare begins with strong relationships with Associates, physicians and the communities we are blessed to serve,” said Chris Glenney, senior vice president and chief operating officer for U.S. operations. “His operational expertise, collaborative leadership style and commitment to expanding access to high-quality care make him the right person to lead CHRISTUS Health Mount Pleasant as we continue investing in the future of this community.”

Most recently, DeVaney served as chief operating officer for CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview for more than two years, where he helped oversee two acute care hospitals, a micro-hospital, two freestanding emergency departments, two surgery centers and 25 outpatient departments.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Siena College in Upstate New York and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio.

He began his healthcare leadership career in Oklahoma, before joining CHRISTUS Health in 2024.

DeVaney said his vision is centered on expanding access to care.

“Priority number one is making sure we can provide as many services locally as possible, so patients and families don’t have to leave their community to receive the care they need and deserve,” he said. “We want people throughout Titus County and the surrounding region to know they can receive high-quality, compassionate care right here at home.”
He and his family enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, hiking and fishing. An avid outdoorsman, he said he looks forward to becoming part of the Mount Pleasant community, exploring East Texas with his family and building relationships with residents across Titus County.
CHRISTUS Health is grateful to Patty Boeckmann, as she retires from her role as president of the hospital after serving the health system in various roles since 2016.
