28TH Annual Crape Myrtle Festival, Fireworks, & Parade  

WAXAHACHIE (June 29, 2026) – The Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas will be in full-bloom and ready to celebrate Independence Day with the 28th Annual Crape Myrtle Festival, Fireworks, & Parade.

The patriotic celebration begins on Friday, July 3, at 6 p.m. at the Waxahachie Sports Complex (151 Broadhead Rd.). Bring your family and friends for an evening filled with food trucks, kid zone activities, and patriotic fun.

Guests will also enjoy a free concert by ZZ Tex – the ultimate ZZ Top tribute band – at 7:30 p.m. The night concludes with the spectacular H-E-B and Myrtle Creek Community Fireworks Show at 9:15 p.m.

During the fireworks display, spectators are encouraged to tune their radios to KBEC 1390/99.1 Classic Texas Music for a special patriotic music simulcast choreographed to the show. Lawn chairs, blankets, and coolers are welcome at the Waxahachie Sports Complex; however, personal fireworks are prohibited.

The celebration continues on Saturday, July 4, with the CNB of Texas Hometown Parade, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade travels from Getzendaner Park along Main Street to historic Downtown Waxahachie, followed by the Liberty & Lemonade Stroll at participating downtown merchants from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All veterans and active-duty service members, including those who served in all wars and conflicts, are honored guests in the parade. Prior to the parade, veterans and one guest are invited to attend the Dan McClinton Veterans’ Memorial Breakfast at Victory Baptist Church (1410 W. Jefferson St.) beginning at 8:30 a.m. The breakfast is proudly sponsored by First Baptist Church Waxahachie, Victory Baptist Church, and Texans on Mission.

The Crape Myrtle Festival, Fireworks, & Parade is FREE to the general public.

Event sponsors include: H-E-B, Myrtle Creek, InterBank, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie, Whataburger and Ellis County Title Company.

History and Background:
In 1997, the Texas State Legislature designated Waxahachie as the “Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas” to celebrate the beauty of Waxahachie’s historic streets that are lined with hundreds of beautiful crape myrtles in full bloom each summer.
