Camp County Fatal Crash – 6/21/2026 Inbox

Camp County, Texas – On June 21, 2026, at approximately 2:32 P.M., Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 271 just south of the Titus County line.

 

Preliminary information indicates that Vehicle 1 was a white Nissan Altima driven by Gavin Brooks, 16 YOA of Mt. Pleasant, traveling northbound on US Highway 271. Vehicle 2 was a Kenworth Truck Tractor Semi-trailer driven by Simon Morales Gonzalez, 48 YOA of Tyler, traveling southbound on US 271. Vehicle 1 crossed over into the southbound lane of US 271 and collided into Vehicle 2 head-on. The driver of Vehicle 1, Gavin Brooks, and the passenger, Morgan Brooks, 21 YOA of Mt. Pleasant, were both pronounced deceased on scene.

 

The driver of Vehicle 2 was transported to a local hospital for injuries.
