Safe Haven Baby Boxes Surrender at Ennis Fire Station #3

ENNIS, TX – June 11, 2026 Last month, a mother in crisis found hope and safety through a face-to-face infant surrender at Ennis Fire Station #3 in Ennis, Texas. The Ennis location was blessed in June of 2025 preparing this community to protect vulnerable women in crisis and their infants. A press conference will be held at Ennis Fire Station #3 located at 1300 Country Club Road, Ennis, Texas on Thursday June 11th at 11 AM CST.

Safe Haven Baby Boxes has a confidential National Safe Haven Hotline, 1-866-99BABY1, that provides free counseling and info on safe surrender, including face-to-face surrender. Twenty-five states have a Baby Box presence within their state.

Founded by Monica Kelsey, Safe Haven Baby Boxes is dedicated to preventing infant abandonment by offering anonymous, judgment-free options for surrender. While 447 Baby Box locations across the country provide safe, anonymous drop-off points, face-to-face surrender remains the only option in many areas. Our hotline is a lifeline, empowering mothers with knowledge, compassion, and a plan.

Kelsey shared, “This is our 3rd baby box baby in Texas in the last six months. We are proud of the many communities that have prioritized being prepared for safe surrender across the state. Local leaders are protecting these women in crisis by placing baby boxes, and now we have another safe infant. Surrender is an act of sacrificial love, and we know this mother had great intent for her child that she couldn’t currently provide. We also are here to offer support post-surrender with counseling for the mother should she choose to reach out.”

Since 2017, 79 infants have been safely surrendered via Baby Boxes, and over 200 additional handoff surrenders have been facilitated through our hotline. Each child enters the adoption process through families who are already approved and waiting to provide love and stability.

This recent surrender in Ennis is a powerful reminder: when mothers are met with empathy and resources, lives are changed. A child is now safe, and a mother can move forward knowing she made a brave, loving choice.
