Arrest made in Deadly Hit and Run Crash.
HENDERSON COUNTY, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety has arrested 18-year-old Alexis Davila of Athens, Texas, for failure to stop and Render Aid, Involving Death and tampering with physical Evidence in the February 2026 deadly hit-and-run crash on FM 2709. This arrest comes after an investigation conducted by Texas State Troopers.
On 2/25/2026, in the early morning hours, Martha Anette Belcher, 73, of Athens, Texas, was walking along the westbound lane of FM 2709 when she was struck and killed by a vehicle. Investigators determined the Chevrolet Silverado, gray in color, driven by Davila, fled the scene and did not report the traffic crash.
