UT Health East Texas Urologist Earns National Recognition for Advanced ED Care

lay Williams, DO
Tyler, Texas (May 26, 2026) — Clay Williams, DO, has earned designation as a Coloplast Center of Excellence (COE), a distinction that recognizes physicians who demonstrate the highest level of expertise, training and commitment to patient care in penile prosthesis treatment.
Dr. Williams, UT Tyler School of Medicine clinical faculty, is a board-certified urologist at the UT Health East Texas Urology Center in Tyler. The COE designation signifies that he has achieved advanced training and has extensive experience with Coloplast penile prostheses and provides exemplary care for men experiencing erectile dysfunction (ED). Physicians earning the COE designation must meet rigorous criteria and demonstrate a strong commitment to educating patients and the community about erectile dysfunction, its underlying causes and the full spectrum of available treatment options. Achievement of a COE designation requires a physician to be nationally recognized as a high implanter.
Dr. Williams exemplifies the UT Health East Texas mission of “caring for our patients, our communities and each other while educating and developing the caregivers of the future.” Dr. Williams, in conjunction with Coloplast, recently led three members of the UT Health Tyler operating room team to an advanced training session in Miami, with Dr. Paul Perito, an industry leader in penile prosthetic implant surgery. All three team members earned official certification for this minimally invasive penile prosthesis technique.
“Achieving, owning and promoting a Center of Excellence designation is significant, but coupling it with newly certified operating room staff further enhances confidence, quality assurance and efficiency,” Dr. Williams said. “This approach helps maintain low infection rates, prioritize patient safety and satisfaction and ultimately improve overall outcomes.”
Beyond clinical care, Dr. Williams is actively involved in professional and community education. He hosted an online seminar focused on erectile dysfunction and recently facilitated an ED educational seminar for East Texas nurse practitioners in collaboration with Coloplast, something he typically does once or twice a year.
“Erectile dysfunction is often a topic many people hesitate to discuss,” Dr. Williams said. “However, education is critical. By informing both the community and healthcare providers about this common condition and its effective treatments, we can ensure men don’t suffer in silence.”
