WINNSBORO — The Winnsboro Livestock Commission has released its weekly market report for the auction held on Friday, May 22, 2026. A total of 388 head of cattle and livestock passed through the sale barn.
The auction, which operates on a flat-rate commission rather than a percentage-based fee, saw steady activity across multiple categories, from lightweight replacement stock to packer bulls.

Steers and Heifers Steady
The market showed strong demand for No. 1 Steers and No. 1 Heifers, particularly in the lighter weight classes:
No. 1 Steers: Lightweights under 300 lbs. topped the market, bringing between $4.75 and $7.00 per pound. The 300–400 lb. class brought $4.50–$6.50, while heavier 700–800 lb. steers traded from $3.00 to $3.60.
No. 1 Heifers: Under 300 lb. heifers ranged from $4.25 to $6.50. The 400–500 lb. class brought $3.75–$5.50, and the 700–800 lb. weight class brought $2.75–$3.25.
Slaughter Cows and Packer Bulls
Slaughter cow prices remained firm based on yield quality:
High Yielding: $1.40–$1.90
Low Yielding: $1.20–$1.40
Thin & Shelly: $0.75–$1.30
Packer Bulls in the 1250–2075 lb. range (Yield Grade 1 & 2) brought between $1.75 and $2.35.
Pairs and Replacement Stock
The demand for replacement stock and pairs showed significant strength:
Cow & Calf Pairs:Young Choice pairs topped the market at $3,500–$5,250, while Young Fair pairs brought $2,500–$3,500. Aged pairs were split to be weighed.
Stockers: Young pregnancy-tested stocker replacement cows brought anywhere from $1,850 to $4,250.
Miscellaneous Livestock
Baby Calves: Traded between $250 and $1,075.
Goats & Sheep:** Brought between $75 and $300.
