The Gilmer Buckeyes lost their opening game in Pool A to eventual Kilgore SQT winner Paris, 27-21. Then they bounced back to defeat Van Alstyne, 31-13, and Kilgore, 26-12. The Kilgore SQT was played at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium in Kilgore.
