Sheriff’s Office releases info about suspicious incident at Gilmer Intermediate School campus
On March 18th, 2026, Gilmer ISD administration notified the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office of a suspicious incident that was uncovered the previous afternoon (March 17th). A faculty member at the Intermediate campus found a cell phone that had been concealed in a trash bucket in one of the boy’s bathrooms, and it appeared to be video-recording. This occurred after students had been dismissed for the day. The phone was immediately taken to the campus Principal so that it could be examined to determine an owner. It was learned that the phone belonged to a custodian at the campus. The custodian was removed campus by the school district, and the phone was turned over to Upshur County Sheriff’s Office. The custodian was later questioned by UCSO investigators. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was obtained for the arrest of 27 year old SHAMON NATAVION PATTON, for Invasive Visual Recording/ State Jail Felony (Texas Penal Code 21.15). The phone has been submitted for forensic analysis, which will be examined in entirety as part of the ongoing criminal investigation in the coming days and weeks. No known images of any child or student were located during the preliminary review of the contents of the phone. Mr. Patton was taken into custody and booked into the Upshur County Jail. These school perverts must be removed and thrown in jail, and then have the story heavily publicized to let these perverts know they will go to prison.
