Support for military couples through career changes focus of Feb.12 webinar
Event will provide an overview of military transitions

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Once registered, an email will be sent with connection information.
The webinar is designed to support military couples and families by applying an integrated, whole-family approach that aligns employment support, financial counseling and relationship/mental health awareness. Families will also be able to demonstrate effective multidisciplinary collaboration among financial counselors, employment readiness specialists and behavioral health providers.
The webinar will be presented by Jenny Rea, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science and Human Services at the University of Arizona.
Learning objectives
The webinar will take a holistic, integrated approach to equip military family service providers to help military families through periods of unemployment, underemployment and financial strain.
Participants will learn to:
- Recognize how permanent change of station moves and other transitions impact spouse employment, income stability and relational/mental well-being.
- Implement strategies to address employment gaps such as self-advocacy, resume/skills translation, portable careers and informed financial decision-making.
- Connect couples with validated resources and coordinated referral pathways that sustain family readiness and well-being
Continuing education credits available

- Accredited financial counselors, Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education.
- Board certified case managers, Commission for Case Manager Certification.
- Certified in family and consumer sciences, American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Certified personal and family finance educator, American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Certified personal finance counselors, The Center for Financial Certifications.
- Certified family life educators, National Council on Family Relations.
- Human resource professionals, Society for Human Resource Management.
- Social workers, licensed professional counselors, and licensed marriage and family therapists, University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work.
