With freezing temperatures upon us, please help conserve natural gas usage
As extremely cold temperatures continue across Texas, CenterPoint Energy is seeing significantly higher natural gas use as customers work to stay warm.
We are closely monitoring system conditions and ask customers where possible to conserve energy, especially natural gas, to help reduce demand during this period of extreme cold. Small actions taken across our communities can make a meaningful difference.
Here are a few simple ways you, your loved ones and neighbors can help conserve natural gas while staying safe and warm:
Lower your thermostat a few degrees, especially overnight or when away from home
Lower the temperature setting on your water heater by 10 degrees and limit your hot water use.
Close curtains and blinds to help retain heat
Seal drafts around doors and windows
Limit the use of non-essential gas appliances (like clothes dryers and pool heaters)
