Federal Winter LIHEAP Grants AVAILABLE FOR SWEPCO CUSTOMERS
Jan. 5, 2026
SHREVEPORT, La.- The New Year is starting out warm for SWEPCO customers, but winter weather can change rapidly. That is why we want to remind customers that help is available through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) when winter weather hits.
The federal assistance is available to SWEPCO customers in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.
Application periods for LIHEAP support differ by state, but SWEPCO customers can get help with their winter heating bills through LIHEAP and other programs. LIHEAP eligibility is based on income; an eligibility tool is available on swepco.com.
- Arkansas customers can apply now through March 31 for winter heating help. That deadline is extended to April 30, or until funds run out for crisis heating help in the event of immediate heating emergencies.
- Funding is on a first come, first served basis until available funds are depleted.
- Texas customers can apply year-round until funds are depleted.
- Louisiana customers can apply in person through their local agency until March 31.
- Crisis heating: immediate heating emergencies can be applied for year round.
“We are dedicated to keeping power affordable and reliable for our customers with rates below the national average,” said Brett Mattison, SWEPCO president COO. “And from LIHEAP to flexible payment plans, extensions, Pay-as-you-Go and average monthly payments, we are committed to helping families manage their energy costs during challenging times.”
SWEPCO offers customers a user-friendly tool to help them find bill assistance tailored to their individual needs. By logging into their account and answering a few simple questions at SWEPCO.com/billhelp, we can connect every customer with suitable options.
