Wild Spring Dunes update

A major development being built in Rusk County is Wild Spring Dunes, a 2,400-acre world-class golf resort and residential community located near Mount Enterprise.

As of early 2026, the project is in an active phase of construction and “grow-in,” following a preview period that began in late 2025.

Current Status & Timeline

  • Preview Play (Current): A “soft opening” of the first eight holes of the Tom Doak course began on November 12, 2025.

  • Full Course Opening: The complete 18-hole Tom Doak course is scheduled for its Grand Opening in Fall 2026.

  • Infrastructure: Construction of the permanent clubhouse and main lodge is slated to begin in 2026.

  • Second Course: A second 18-hole course designed by Coore & Crenshaw is currently under development. While routing is complete and clearing has begun, it is projected to open in 2027.

Key Features of the Development

The project is being developed by Dream Golf (the team behind world-renowned sites like Bandon Dunes and Sand Valley). It is designed to be a public-access resort rather than an exclusive private club, though it does offer a “Founders” program for early supporters.

Feature Details
Course 1 Designed by Tom Doak; 7,120-yard par 72; focuses on ravines and elevation.
Course 2 Designed by Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw; currently in development.
Landscape Located in the “Piney Woods,” featuring 120 feet of elevation change, spring-fed creeks, and hardwood forests.
Amenities Overnight cabins, short course, putting course, practice facility, and hiking/fishing areas.
Real Estate Unlike some other Dream Golf properties, this site includes private home sites and “Founders” lots.

Location Context

The resort is situated about 20 miles north of Nacogdoches and roughly 2.5 hours from both Dallas and Houston. Locals and developers often refer to the area as being near Mount Enterprise or within the triangle formed by Henderson, Carthage, and Nacogdoches.
