Mid-America League Announces League Leaders for the Week Ending Sunday, July 21, 2024

LAWRENCE, KS- The Piney Woods TimberHogs continue to dominate the leader board as the Mid-America League announces its league leaders for the week ending Sunday, July 21, 2024.

 

Piney Woods (TX) TimberHogs outfielder, and former San Diego Padres prospect, Juan Murillo (Grad Sr.) continues to lead the league in the majority of hitting categories.  The Phoenix, AZ native leads in Batting Average (.506), On Base Percentage (.583), Slugging Percentage (.958), Runs (48), Hits (84), Home Runs (20), and Runs Batted In (71).

 

This week, Piney Woods outfielder Lukas Hinze (Phoenix College/Chandler, AZ) takes over the lead in Walks drawing 31 free passes this season.

 

The TimberHogs’ A.J. Smith (Bethune-Cookman/Kilgore, TX) continues to lead the MAL in Stolen Bases with 32.

 

Over on the pitching side, Joplin (MO) Outlaws’ hurler Xavier Fosbenner (Missouri Baptist University/Morristown, TN) leads in two statistical categories: ERA (3.51) and Innings Pitched (51.1).

 

Piney Woods’ right-hander Wilton Castillo-Franco (Grad Sr./Las Vegas, NV) leads the Strikeouts category with 67 K’s over 48 innings pitched.

 

Texarkana (TX) Rhinos’ Brandon Cardenas (Schreiner/Floresville, TX) continues to lead the league in Wins with 6.

 

Three players—Coleton Payton (Fort Smith/ASU Mountain Home/Greenwood, AR), Tyler Puckett (Piney Woods/Paris Junior College/White Oak, TX), and Landon Richey (Texarkana/UT Tyler/Quitman, TX) are all tied for the league lead in Saves with 3 each.
