Summary 

  • The TimberHogs faced the Texarkana Rhinos in the second game of their series tonight. ● Zach Martinez got the start for the ‘Hogs and tallied six strikeouts in three innings of work. ● The Rhinos got off to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning.
  • The TimberHogs responded by plating three of their own in the second. Tyler Martin hit a solo homerun. The ‘Hogs loaded up the bases, and the Rhinos’ pitcher walked in one. Juan Murillo scored on a passed ball.
  • The ‘Hogs extended their lead in the top of the third to 8-3. Gabe Flores hit a two-run homerun over the centerfield fence. Murillo and Lukas Hinze followed with back to back doubles, plating two more. Hinze then scored off an error.
  • The Rhinos recaptured the lead in the fourth when they scored three runs. ● Taven Hathaway got the win for the ‘Hogs, striking out nine and allowing no runs. ● Cermodrick Bland singled to center field, bringing one in to tie the game for the ‘Hogs. ● The TimberHogs had a big seventh inning, plating eight runs. The ‘Hogs loaded up the bases,

and the Rhinos walked in one run. Nathan Owens singled to right field, scoring Murillo. A double from Martin scored two. Noah Paddie doubled to center field, driving in two more. AJ Smith scored off a failed pickoff attempt. Murillo got his second double of the night, plating another.

  • Alton Gatson and Owens both scored on wild pitches in the eighth. The Rhinos walked in three more runs.
  • The TimberHogs will play the Rhinos again tomorrow night in Texarkana.
