‘Saith the Lord GOD, I will darken the earth in the clear day’

“Saith the Lord GOD, I will darken the earth in the clear day” (Amos 8:9 KJV).

On Day 4 of Creation week, “God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, the lesser light to rule the night.  He made the stars also”.  On April 8th this “Great God”, “who ruleth over all”, will darken the sun and moon over Texas (Gen 1:14-19; Psa 95:3-6; 103:19).

They will preach a sermon.  All will “hear their voice” of “truth” as “the heavens declare the glory of God”, “show His handywork”, and “manifest” “His eternal power and Godhead” by which “all things were created and consist” (Psa 19:1-4; Rom 1:18-20; 1 John 5:7; Col 1:12-20).

This total eclipse “shows forth God’s righteousness” and only way of “salvation” through Jesus Christ. Our sin comes between us and the thrice-holy God, who “is Light”, casting “darkness and the shadow of death” upon us.  “The soul that sinneth shall die” (Job 10:21; Psa 71:15; Ezek 18:4; John 6:23; 1 John 1:5-10).

On the “bloody” cross God “made Christ sin for us who knew no sin”.  Then our sin came between God the Father and His “beloved Son”, “Christ Jesus”, “the “one mediator between God and men”.  The “darkness” of Hell was upon Him for three hours. “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (2 Cor 5:20-21; Mat 3:17; 27:45-46; 1 Tim 2:5; Rev 1:5; 5:9)

After three days Christ rose from the dead turning death and Hell’s “blackness of darkness for ever” into “everlasting life” and “light” for “believers” (John 3:16; Jude 13; Rev 21:23).

“Seek him that maketh the stars”, “and maketh the day dark with night”, “and turneth the shadow of death into the morning.” “The LORD,” Jesus Christ, “is his name”! (Amos 5:8).
