Free Open House at Local Camp and Conference Center

Gilmont Camp and Conference Center invites the community to a FREE Open House and Easter Egg Hunt from 10 AM – 2 PM on March 30, 2024. Enjoy exploring, hiking, disc golf, mini-golf, cornhole, and more. A Special Easter Egg Hunt will be available throughout the day with opportunities to receive special Gilmont prizes including merchandise, discounted camps, or a free week of Day Camp. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the outdoors with lots of space to spread out and be in nature.

2 PM, Gilmont is hosting an outdoor worship service – Worship in the Wild – at Gilmont’s Chapel by the Lake. Worship in the Wild services at Gilmont invite people of all ages and faith backgrounds to deepen their faith while meeting God in the community of creation.

Gilmont hopes the local community will enjoy the day at camp and learn about Gilmont’s Summer Camp Programs. Gilmont is also expanding their Day Camp program to four weeks! Gilmont Day Camp is an enriching opportunity for local kids in grades 1st-6th to unplug, play outside, and grow in character, community, and faith. A camper parent from last year described Day Camp as “an amazing investment in your children.”

At the heart of Gilmont’s mission is their summer camp program. Campers agree saying, “Camp is the place you go to be free of the world and to worship God.” This upcoming summer, Gilmont is offering 5 weeks of Overnight Camp for campers in 1st-12th grade. Each year hundreds of children and youth gather to enjoy outdoor recreation and spiritual development with friends under the guidance of trained, college-aged counselors.

Gilmont is a Camp and Conference Center located just Northeast of Gilmer, across from Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area on State Hwy 155. The camp sits on 400 acres and has 6 cabins, 3 lodges, several meeting spaces, hiking and mountain biking trails, canoes, paddle boards, a swimming pool, a zipline, a low ropes course, a miniature golf course, a disc golf course, and a great view from the second highest point in Upshur County.

Gilmont provides different retreats throughout the year: including a women’s retreat, men’s retreat, spiritual practices retreat, silent retreat, and more. Several times a year Gilmont hosts Circle of Friends: a weekend retreat for families who have children with developmental disabilities. The camp welcomes families, church groups, businesses, scout groups, craft groups, and others who want to enjoy camp property and amenities.

Gilmont’s mission is to cultivate a safe, sacred space where all are invited to grow closer to God, creation, others, and themselves. You can learn more at gilmont.org, by calling 903-797-6400 oremailing info@gilmont.org.
