UT Tyler and Partners to Host Marion County Health Fair

The University of Texas at Tyler and its partners will host the Marion County Health and Resource Fair to raise awareness of health challenges in Marion County and provide resources to the community. The event will feature a free lunch, gift card drawings and health screenings, including glucose test and blood pressure checks.

According to data from the Prevention Resource Center, within Marion County:
  • 22 percent of the population have a disability.
  • 30 percent of the children live in poverty.
  • 24 percent have poor or fair health.
  • 15 percent experience frequent physical stress.
  • 17 percent experience frequent mental distress.
  • There are 4 confirmed child victims of maltreatment per 1000 children.
