The TWDB visits Harris County

The TWDB participated in a two-day visit to the greater Houston area in December to hold a Board meeting, visit local water facilities, learn about flood mitigation efforts, and more.

As we begin a new year, we’re looking back at some of the TWDB’s top accomplishments in 2023. With a growing focus on water and additional funding from the legislature, the agency anticipates another busy year ahead.

Water + Weather 2023: Year in Review

2023 was the hottest and 33rd driest year for Texas since 1895, and we finished the year with nearly 40 percent of the state in drought. Dr. Mark Wentzel takes a look at drought conditions and surface water supplies during the past year.
